For not going into work tonight!!
Before anyone thinks I'm slack, I did an 11 hour shift yesterday, and Tuesday. Tonight I am meant to do 7 til close, and tomorrow 1pm-6.
I want to spend some time with my little girl, she seems a bit down.
Know any different good ones?

He won't pay me if I dont go in, I'm a barmaid.
And I don't want to work so bloody hard, but because I get no maintenance from my ex, I don't have much choice.

continual stomach pains and diarrhea - you had them during the night and this morning and you can't be away from the bathroom for long! not ideal to tell your boss, but what can they say?!

Tell your boss that your little girl is not feeling well. However, it would be much better if you spent 1/2 your shift with her and 1/2 at work at least. Tell your boss that as soon as your ...family member, on-call sitter, or friend, gets off work...suggest a time that is 1/2 way like 11pm, then you can go in. Your daughter will be in bed by then anyway right. This way you can still help fulfill the obligation you already have to your boss, spend time with your little one, and give yourself and hour or two to get ready. I knwo it's tough working a lot. Sometimes you HAVE TO put your work aside to meet your families emotional needs. Plus, you won't be giving your boss 100% if your mind is somewhere else. In the future, cut your hours back, even if just a little, stop picking up so many hours, and designate time with your daughter for just you and her. It will save you a big headache and possibly your career

1. I don't think you're slack.
2. Nothing is more important than the time you spend with your daughter.
3. Tell the boss you have chronic stomach pains and diarrhoea but you're hoping if you take tonight off you'll be ok for tomorrow.
4. Try to find a job that allows you to see your littel girl more, and that pays you when you are ill.
5. Set the CSA on your ex to cut yourself a little more slack. They're not great but if they start to put pressure on him he may even agree to set something up with you independently.

It sounds like you're in food service. Long term, I think you should advance your education, there are grants for single moms and get to college to learn a skill. Sure she's down, she's at child care without you. Look hard to find a job with sane hours while you go back to school! You will thank me for this someday...take care of her.

just tell him the truth, if you dont get paid for not turning in anyway, what you got to lose? i threw a sickie and when the boss started turning it on i took him my notice down? family comes first and the job i was doing i was hardly seeing them? cant you get a morning job or something as a cleaner for a few hrs a morning, this will free up your afternoons/evenings with your girl? if your boss kicks up a fuss tell him to stick it,this is why they are always advertising for people, the moneys crap, and so are the hours?

say something hit and broke your (preferably ground floor) window and you have to wait for a glass man to fix it. or some oe has lost their keys and your waiting for a locksmith. But do your homework, go to yell.com find someone in your area and get a quote over the phone so if your boss asked how much it costs you'll know.
