Okay, if you bother to read these details you'll know im not a rock hater. Im saying people are saying rap sucks because of judging it on the garbage on the radio today, and theres plenty of sh!t rock but no one is judging it on the c%ap stuff. I don't get it.

Yeah, there's definitely some crappy rock today, but there seems to be way more rap out there. it seems like that's all that's coming out anymore. And when you listen to rock mainly, it's easier to bad mouth the rap because you don't listen to it. It's not the music style you like, you know.

Because Rap is newer! Rock and roll has already had its butt chewed out, and from time to time continues to do so.

"Elvis the Pelvis" was labled as a social anarcist who threatened the downfall and moral degregation of our society, and whose lyrics encouraged criminal behavior and immoral bacchian sexuality.

Sounds the same of modern critics of rap, no? Check out my source link for more examples, I think you'll be surprised at how many arguements have been recycled through the ages.

Hell, Tipper Gore raised heck over Frank Zappa and others awhile back. And today, Video games are slowly getting their critics...and by slowly I mean "since Pac-Man".

Don't worry, soon rap music will be classical music of the highest quality, and we'll listen to 50 Cent offer to take us to 'the candy shop' as his tunes play in the elevator...and we'll be right there to listen to him and complain about the downright immoral musical/visual/mental corruption OUR youth are consuming. :)

well let me spell it out for you. i dont buy the anti social hero, kurt cobain, crap. we all have problems, none of us are perfect and life isnt always a gift. when im in public and am forced to listen to this garbage, i have a rough time explaining to my daughter the attributes of ...im in love with a stripper or shake that axx for me. the idea here is if you worship the underside of life, thats what you wallow in and most people just dont like it.
in other words if you lie down with dogs you get fleas.

at least with rock music there are some redeeming qualities and yes there is some garbage, but the vast majority of it doesnt survive on degredation of law enforcement, women or whining about god how bad is my life. its a stretch at least to put them in the same category and the effects of rap music on younger adults where I work when you see the attitude and dress are more than a bit obvious. sorry pal, if your looking for sympathy with rap here you loose. try beatles, elvis, hendrix, stones, csny, etc. they didnt need this garbage to sound good....i hope you get my point.

Most rappers write about their own experiences. I think the people that hate rap have no idea how to relate to the artists that create it. The lack of tolerance is simply because of the ethnicity of most rap artists. Anyone who "hates" rap and denies the real reason why is lying to themselves.

I hate all rap, but I also hate shitty rock bands like Nickleback, Hinder, and a large amount of other rock bands. Actually, I hate any rock band that they play on the radio except for like Coldplay.

Most rap deals with the same repetitive thing over and over.

Girls
Cars
Money
Streem Dreams
Guns

It just gets annoying, thus you have the rap today.

Good observation. Rock is not so hot either. It's hypocricy.

They used to hate R&B too, until Elvis stole our music.

Rap will also be loved in a few years.

it is a trend. kindof like the way country songs talk about losing everything, rap songs talk about hate and fighting.

You have a very good point, I don't like "rap" but I don't "hate on it" either. I do LOVE good R&B/Soul though! :)
