How do I activate my restore point to work effectively?

I used the system restore to take my computer back to a specific date so as to correct some problems,but after choosing a date my PC tells me completion error and that my PC has no changes.Its a lie because I have many installations and others.How do I get it work well in order to be restored?

To activate the restore point in MS WinXp Just rt click on My Computer go to Perporties then go to System Restore & enable the drive on which you want the restore to be activated.
