My mom had this, and the eye doc called it a floater -- little minute pieces of your eye that have broken free and are now floating around in it. Most of the time, they are harmless. However, my mom had to have it laser-zapped. She was told that if she didn't do it, she was risking retinal detachment. With a detached retina, YOU ARE BLIND in that eye!

It could also be a retinal hemorrhage -- blood escaping into the liquid in your eye (vitreous gel). The retina can tear if the shrinking vitreous gel pulls away from the wall of the eye. This sometimes causes a small amount of bleeding in the eye that may appear as new floaters.

I would scrape up the money the best I can or see if a doctor will work with you. How terrible would it be if the floater caused your retina to detach!!! I couldn't imagine! I value my vision a lot!

Good luck & I hope everything heals well.

Had that happen before. Kinda looks like a hair floating around in your vision. It should go away but may take a few days, mine took about a week. Your eye just needs to heal. If it persists, maybe the doc. can give you some eye sav and a patch.

Crap. I have no insurance, either. And I know what it's like to not want to go to a doctor for anything, because it is just too freaking expensive, and to find out that it's "nothing" would be the worst thing. Believe me, I know. I really do. But, this is your VISION. I would see a doctor. If you have retinal detachment, or another serious eye injury, it requires immediate attention. I would suck this one up. And, trust me.. that means a lot coming from me.

You may have a detached retina. The cardinal sign is what is known as " floaters". They are little blurs that " float" in your field of vision. You really do need to get to an eye doc if that is the case.

It could be a number of things:
corneal abrasion: which could progress into an ulcer and lead to blindness

Retinal detachment: can also cause blindness

Blood clot: could cause problems and blindness

Bottom line: they are your eyes, just decide how important your vision is to you and if you don't mind being blind for the rest of your life I would wait and see if it gets better or goes away.

iv heard of that.. hmm... it might be a start to cataract. often cataract begins with dark sports appearing in your vision. it gets bigger as time passes.. months..years maybe...
go see a doc.. better give in to a few bucks than to lose your eyesight altogether.
