38yo Stay at home Mom for over ten years. Kids are in school and I have too much time on my hands.

I thought of going back to school but that will cost $$. It sounds kind of fun, but I don't even know what sort of classes to take.

OR should I just find a job somewhere?

Thanks...I'm feeling a little lost lately.

Hi, do you have an education? Do you have an education that will give you a good job, a job that you have studied for? If you already have a profession then return to it if you are happy with it. If you would like to go and get education there are many classes you can take either in University or College. No one is too old to go to University!!! I am in University and there are many older people in my classes, and a lot of my classes are first year! If you do not have the money perhaps you can get a scholarship/bursary, if not try a loan and then you can pay it off easily or work for a year, save the money and use it for your tuition if you do not want to get into loans or lines of credit. Either way an education is good so good luck and go for your dreams!!!
You could do part time schooling and job in your other time, or even just take an evening or night class. do something you think would be fun, I enjoyed taking some social work classes in the summer time just for fun, and I loved it!!! Take classes that would enhance your skills for other jobs even, anything you think would be fun, just go to the university website and see all they have to offer!!!

My opinion is if you havent already gone to college and received a degree as of yet I will recommend you to go back to school. What you might want to do is get an academic schedule for a college or university nearest you and scout the possibilities of degree offering classer or even certificate offering classes and possibly even continuing education classes in which you will be taking a couple of classes here and there and not working towards a degree.
They have a lot of volunteer opportunities on college campuses or even via the college to the community. You are never too old to go back to school. And now that your kids are in school this is a perfect time to study and learn with your kids. You will have a whole new perspective on life once you initiate this strategy thus giving you a better opportunity for a great job. Work towards one goal and the other doors will open up for you along the way.
Much luck and success.

If you are a millionaire and illiterate, I would agree that you go back to school for the knowledge and experience. But if money is a concern, I strongly advise you to get a job. Having a job makes you more of an adult. Going back to school makes you more of a child. When you have a job, you will also have co-workers whom you can socialise with if you like and bring back some additional money for your family too. Don't add anymore financial burdens on your family.

Do what you like. Look into college programs. See if there is anything that interests you. Lots of older people go back to school. If you've already earned a degree, what about graduate school? My mom did that after working and raising us to school age. Jobs are kind of dull unless it's something you really care about or enjoy and it's hard to get those jobs without education or work experience.

If there is something you like to do get a part time job doing it. I am 45 and work in a hardware store because I like it. If you like gardening try a plant shop or something. As you go you will feel better about yourself and you will be able to decide if you want to take some classes to help you get farther into what you like. Good luck.

don't just find a job..
find something that means something to you

i have a BA in business management from way back and now i am going back to school for nursing.
after i found out NY has a shortage and as my dad is getting older i did some research and found out that i can go to school at one of the hospitals and had to sign a contract that i will work for them for 3 yrs after to pay back for the training. they even pay me a weekly paycheck

so find something you like to do and do it

You could do both.
There is financial aid and loans out there. Or you could just take one class per semester, most community colleges offer payment plans.
I say, do what's in your heart.
