...would they recognise themselves?...

If they see good things in me, I can only hope that they would recognise their part in making it so.
Even if they haven't created things in me, they have certainly reinforced them.
If, for example, one sees in me some element of wit and intelligence, it might in part reflect the encouraging image of a mad English horsewoman...

I recognise the parts I have picked up from one or another friend along the years. A certain word, a gesture, a tone of voice - the friends may have long gone but these remembrances of them remain.
I do think they would recognise them as their own, maybe not instantaneously but still. I do - when someone says something and it seems strangely familiar to me and only later it strikes me - wow! this is the expression I use a lot! We are made up of little pieces of each other - or at least a part of us is. Like Lego blocks.

I pick people as friends that I admire in some way, are real, and help challenge me to grow.
I also know that regardless, they will eventually forgive me if I mess up.
Sometimes other people see things that aren't there. That happens all the time. The past two days is a good example.
To err is human.......
I forgive...... all the time.
I think that earns a certain amount of grace.
I think others deserve the same.

I like to keep my friends sheltered within me, while I'm blatantly and unashamedly me on the out. They might not recognise themselves in me, but they might their selfs.
