Our Democracy would be fine, but our economy would suffer a major hit in the short term. This action would have a cataclysmic effect on the world economy resulting in a world wide depression. There would be massive job loss and shortages on most commodities. This would be a very bad mistake to make and would never be seriously considered by the government. The United States is uniquely positioned with ample natural resources and food production to be self sufficient. However we have let the infrastructure lapse in production areas such as oil and it would take many hard lean years to revive it.

We are completely dependent on everyone else. If we all of a sudden closed ourselves off from the rest of the world, then our economy would collapse and most likely the whole world's economy too.

It would take years and years and years to become self sufficient. We would have to start by kicking out corporations and make it so people couldn't invest in other countries. I believe democracy could thrive in a self sufficent economy.

loopy terrosrists hijacked 4 planes. 2 ended up crashing (one into each and each tower) inflicting their crumple. One airplane went down in a field in Pennsylvania, the different hit the pentagon. Terrorists have been Al Queda, hence the explanation we hunt for Osama Bin encumbered and all his looney cult participants. there are various web pages, google 9/11/01 or international commerce middle. That become an afternoon i visit never overlook.

We'd get poor real fast, but other countries throughout the world would fold.

The ensuing poverty would create wars in all regions of the world.

This is no joke. When the economy tanks, crime goes up. People steal, defend their property, start fighting, and nations are no different.

No man is an island. Thus, a democracy will die if no trade is made with other countries.

we all ready cut off people that make us mad (and cut you off of buying their cheaper products).. cuba for example... and brazil has been making 'gas' from sugar cane since the early 80's.. all their gas stations have it, not regular gas.. we put a 300 percent increase tariff on it so no one will import it.. its so cheap, we would import it and oil co. would lose lots o cash flow... and besides, youd be poluting less and helping the earth and saving money and probly happier and thats just not the american way..
