You can go to the local college and take an 8 hour refresher course and get them renewed.

Or you can go to a nursing home and ask to talk to the nurse who is in charge (the d.o.n director of nurses) and ask her to help you renew it.

The D.O.N. will ask you a few questions and if you answer them correctly then she can make a simple phone call and have your license renewd for you. (my mom had this done..ain't it funny how much POWER a simple Nurse has? lol)

You can also work as a CNA one day a month. And go to the meetings and inservices and still keep your license. Think about it, ONE DAY A MONTH is not a big deal. if you have lifting restrictions then let them know so you won't be hurting your back. Maybe you can just come in for a few hours just to feed the residents at a nursing home??

Good Luck.

You have to have credit hours in science and math to keep the license up to par. You also have to have more that 200 hours working in the field per year to maintain a practical working knowledge.
