Plants need many nutrients to survive. But first find out the PH of your soil. example is the plant pH level is 6.5 . So test your soil for it pH level which you can buy at garden center or hardware stores. follow instructions or ask help at garden center how to test. I test the soil on my farm every year to see what I need to improve ph level. example again. most soils east of the Mississippi river are acid you would use lime to sweeten the soil. West of the Mississippi are alkaline used would use sulfur to acidify it. PH level is a very important factor in producing healthy plants.

Sandy said it like it is. When you buy plant food yuo have to look at the three numbers it shows on the front of the bag. To make it simple....1st number- greens, 2nd number - flowers, 3rd number-growth. Just remember more is not better and to water. If you have to time to do it every day (just the water) do it. Constante care is the best ingredient for a lawn or garden.
