I know a couple, and they're spatting over who gets the dogs on the weekends, and say they are they're children!! NO, I'm not a lesbian!! That's why I don't understand this!! I can see saying your pet is like a child, but this is like extreme state-of-mind in my opinion! The one lesbian is going to take the other one to court for visitaton over this!!!! Like I said, I'm dead serious here guys! If you understand this kind of behavour, PLEASE expalin this to me!!

I can believe it, as I've hear of this happening before. As for why, it's because there are crazy people in every group and you've managed to find two of the crazy people in the lesbian community.

I know of straight couples that did the same thing when going through a divorce. To some people, pets are just like children. Sexual orientation is not an issue here.

I totally understand. Your pets are loved like they are part of the family (dogs treat humans as part of their family) but we all know really they are not really children.

But, you can love a dog or other pet just as much as a child (or a lot basically) so when you break up it's painful

Also, dogs are the ones who comfort you when you are down and when you break up with someone losing the dog and your partner at the same time is extra difficult as you have no one to cuddle up to.

I love my dogs (all four of them) but if my partner and I broke up, she can keep them all, while I'll swan around the world free as a bird... Ha Ha! (Sorry dogs!).

This happens in straight relationships also. People get attached to pets, animals in general very fast and when a break up occurs things tend to get ugly.

Straight people also do this when they split up. People get so emotinally attached to a pet and can not bear the thought of not having them by their side, thus; the result is what you are talking about.

well, other than putting efforts into their relationship between the couple, they also have affections for their pets.
imho, when a couple breaks up, its hard to reach a compromise. & each feels shortchanged & angry with the other party. and they see the kids (pets) as something very personal, & will not allow the pets to be seperated from each other too.
its not only happening to gay couples, it happens between hetrosexual couples too.

I don't think this is solely a sexual orientation incident..I think that most married couples going through a breakup tend to fight the most over the smallest possessions.

Dear Lesbian Pet Lover:

I do not understand why you love pets like you do, but I'm glad you do!
