Hi, I'm saving up some money to take a trip to somewhere in Europe but I'm unsure as to where to go. I live in Ireland and I'm looking to take about €1,000 with me. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks alot!

TO decide, you will need to set up priorities...

what do you want to do on your trip? party? sightseeing? lay on a warm beach? skiing? do you want to see arts and architecture, or nature?... and so on.

Once you have picked the goals of your trip (and you will not be able to hit it all at the same time, unless you plan to travel across for 3 months!!!), then the decision will be quite obvious.
1000 euros are a nice chunck of money, but you will need to look up and select wisely the hotels - these get very fast expensive.
Also, do you plan to fly, or drive? driving can be a challange in Continental EU - we drive on the other side...

Best bet is probably to get a rail pass (they come fairly cheap for summer under 26 yrs old, I believe) FIRST, then allocate the rest of your money wisely. Take a backpack and a sleeping bag... and you will always be able to get home. If you plan for a long trip, you may want to set up some basic stops, and find some simple jobs to add some money to your finances... (agriculture usually hire in summer, in France, in Italy...).

Paris of course. City of lights and love. Romance is in the air. April in Paris is beautiful. Prices are not out of whack especially if you live in Ireland. 1000.00 euro will take you a long way. Take a boat ride down the Seine.
Visit the eiffelTower. Go to the hugh department stores and the famous 2nd hand district. Buy fresh fruit from open markets. Watch the artists at Montparnesse. Things to do are limitless as Paris never closes. Cafes open all night and for some relaxation hop a train to Normandy or go to the horse races. Visit Aix en Provence. I could go on forever.
