...I can only ever relink one file at a time in the links palette (relink automatically / relink, browse...). However there are hundreds of pictures. Years ago it would ask if it can update other pics in folder, this time it doesn't.Files are on an Exernal HD, but even from my laptop t does nto work to relink all files.

HOW CAN I GET IT TO AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE ALL OTHER MISSING 100 LINKS/PICS IN THAT SAME FOLDER, OTHER THAN DOING IT INDIVIDUALLY?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

The linked images must be in the same folder in which you have saved your document, cause if a link is broken, InDesign looks for the file in the document's folder.
If this condition is satisfied, but the links broke anyway, InDesign includes a command to embed images that have been placed in the document. This command is available in the Links palette menu. Embedding a graphic file breaks the link to the external version of the graphic and makes the graphic part of the document's file structure, increasing the document's filesize.
