This is a good point in the sense the U.S. diplomatic defence for countries like North Korea and Iran who are proliferating nuclear weapons against the best interests of the U.S. and is also a defence towards any other third world country seeking security in nuclear weapons is....;

"that money that is spent on developing weapons could be spent on its citizens and those countries are taking food out of peoples mouths"

As far as the President and Federal Government are concerned America isn't wasting money at all. History has shown us (through the times of Franklin Roosevelt, The Great Depression and World War II) that war supports domestic economic growth. Moral and political views aside, while war costs money to wage, it also bolsters the economy through the production of war-time goods and equipment and the need to fill more jobs. Sadly at the cost of human life, the unemployment rate has gone down thus the number of homeless in the country are fewer. While the current confrontation with Iraq has not produced the equal economic results of mid 20th century America and pre-Nazi Germany, it has had some measurable effect on the current day economy and the homeless. However, using war as a means to gain patriotic support and consumer growth is a horrible travesty.

Like the big MNCs, the govt is only putting money where it thinks it can achieve some sort of permanent change (invest to make money in the middle-to-long run) - if you give 1 million homeless people a shiny new home today there will still be a problem of homelessness 5-10 years from now - and guess which aim (of the two) benefits the DOW Jones & NASDAQ top 100 companies more! ... And guess who controls campaign funding for politicians - not the homeless!

Who said America has money ha ha ha we hold a debt the biggest one in history bigger than WWII this guy has single handedly put us in deep do do debt before the 911 scheme with every intention to filter that money to their pockets (the 5000 families and their friends for the new world order take over) Get wise, since when do these people care about people? They are not humane? They are evil and that is that. Would you take pity from a snake? Would you want it? No you want your dignity, and have some integrity right? What we should be doing is creating jobs for our people here to pursue this war endeavor to stop it and create money that way, for us and our starving people. I am only interested in my own in America and I do not concern myself with the other countries? They have their own land they have leaders, and so be it. Fix their own problems, have their own revolutions, and stop dragging us into their revolutions. Our fathers of this country shed blood to win against tyranny. Unlike these other brainwashed wooses that want their country but wont die for it. But expect our soldiers to die for them? No way. No more. They need to stop being cowards, tell them to look up the battles of Pancho Villa? Or how about Sam Houston and the Alamo? Or the Spanish American War? Or the French Indian wars? How did we win? www.history.com research this and you will have the answers to the poverty and the whys.

Wharped sense of priorities from the White House, I would guess. I watched "Larry King Live" tonight and they showed how most of the Katrina damage has still been left untouched, and how major crime rates have skyrocketed in New Orleans. Just a small fraction of what has been spent in Iraq could clean that stuff up in 6-months. And don't forget the Gulf Coast, too. Your question is a good one. Never stop questioning your government!

Homeless people will never be able to contribute in filling up an SUV. Iraq will someday, so it is not a waste.

If someone can figure out how to make money off of the homeless, the problem will be solved.

War is big business, and very profitable for certain people.

Because no matter what you do you will have homeless people. Look at any other country. They too will have an issue with homeless.

More often than not homeless people will refuse help due to pride or mental issues.

It has nothing to do with Iraq.
