I'm just trying to comprehend the psycology of smokers? As I came from a 100% non-smoking family, I have a bad picture about smokers! I just feel that they are not normal people! they used to have a personality problem that lead them to smoke and addict it. what do u think?

I believe being around other smokers probably makes most people start.

It's just like any other addiction, no need dislike them. At least the source of their addiction is legal (although if it had never been legalized, we'd all be better off.)

Well, I'm not sure about personality problems. I'm not a smoker but, I'm surrounded by many.
I think most smokers acquire this habit as a consequence of "peer pressure". They tend to get addicted to the nicotine rush.
Some even just get addicted to how they look when they smoke (some women are turned on' by watching a man smoke).

I think they feel under pressure, stress, depression, so they start smoking and they feel relaxed but they dont realize that they're harming themselves... also if they're not stressed anymore they have developed a habit to smoke so they just carry on... some children smoke because they think it is cool... sometimes it peer pressure.. or maybe because the people around you smoke soo much... it may be because celebrities have a "cool" image of smoking..

well my best friend started smoking because her life was so stressful, and whenever she gets really stressed out, she gets this huge urge to smoke. i guess that's just one case, though...plus she did hang out with a lot of older high schoolers who smoked.

I think a lot of it is peer pressure, how the individual sees themselves within their group.
