The guy should not have even been considered for the Hall of Fame. We KNOW he used Andro, a steroid precursor that was banned in EVERY other sport at the time and that is now banned in baseball, and we know he refused to even ANSWER the question of whether or not he used steroids once he was under oath.

Yes, I agree with you. It really comes down to an integrity issue with some of the sports writers. The bigger issue is that some baseball writers that did not vote for him are now saying that their non-vote in punishment for McGwire's steroid use. However in a couple of years these guys intend to vote for him!!! What that tells me is as far as the writers are concerned, it's not okay this year to have cheated but in a couple of years it will be okay that he cheated!! How does the act of cheating lessen as time goes by? Maybe the baseball writers association needs to clean house and get rid of those who have a general lack of integrity just like McGwire, Bonds, Sosa, and all the rest of the cheaters!
It's time baseball cleans up it's act or our national pastime will be destroyed forever.

NO. I'm less ticked about McGwire getting just enough votes to piss people off than I am about Marimen of the Chargers going to the ProBowl or Bonds who got to keep playing last year. Or the countless number of people in pro sports that test positive and yet get to keep playing and get to keep whatever titles they may earn while playing. The all should be booted right away.

Why stress about it? After all, he didn't GET IN the Hall of Fame
And we should kick Babe Ruth out for being drunk and sleeping with whores!

Again and again people... it wasn't against the rules of baseball at the time. Therefore he wasn't technically cheating. Who cares if he doesn't admit it? He doesn't have to. He's not "guilty" of anything wrong.
If anyone should be under this much criticism it should be Bonds, who has been cheating since the new rule has been placed.

I don't care if he gets some votes, as long as he doesn't get enough to make it in!
