My guess is hatred, but the only one that really knows that answer is Osama himself.

Osama never admit he was behind attack on america?! did he?! But i know he did ask for support from muslims to go against america. I've read an article that there was a possibility that the 9/11 attack was a setup. anyway the oil rig in Iraq is now under control by the Bush administration......yahoooo!!!

Osama wanted to get rid of Western influence in Muslim nation. That was why he fought the Russians in Afghanistan. When The US entered the War between Iraq and Kuwait, he considered as another intrusion of Western Influence in a Muslim land. He did believe in freeing Kuwait from Iraq, but he wanted it to be done by Muslim troops. He probably would wanted US aid, but only as a supplier of arms and finance. When US military showed up in Saudi Arabia, he saw it as a Western Invasion and sacrilege to the Muslim Holy land.

Since everyone thought America was unbeatable, he probably allways wanted to do (and did) the unbelievable. But more then that, I think it was the due to the US blocading Iraq.
