Fresh Prince of Bel Air or Family Matters? Fresh Prince or Steve Urkel which show was funnier and if you were going to buy the episodes on DVD and you could only pick one show which show would you buy?

The Fresh Prince by a landslide. Family matters was a generic, sappy, family-friendly TGIF show that was entirely predictable. While the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was not one of the best TV shows of all time, it featured a raw and endearing rapper-turned actor, Will Smith, and his partner-in-crime, DJ Jazzy Jeff. While already successful in the music industry at a very young age, Will Smith took a chance on an acting career that has turned out to be much more successful than anyone could have ever imagined at the time. His abilities alone made The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air very entertaining and provided lots of laughs to the viewers.

I watched them both, but I like Fresh Prince better. I wouldn't buy either one because Family Matters wasn't THAT good and Fresh Prince is on all the time anyway.

I'd go with Fresh Prince. Urkel was cool, though. Kinda funny similarity with these shows. Both moms left after a few seasons and were replaced.

I am going to have to say Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I even own the first 4 seasons of it on dvd. :)
