I'm going to go sleep on this one and decide if I have one I can publish - I'll get back to ya.
How about a visual memory - 1st time I went to Canada to fish we went a couple of hours North of Peterborough in Ontario. Friends had a cottage there with the typical 99 yr lease from the Queen. The lake was near Apsley.
It was around Mothers Day in the States and not to long after ice-out. Had a morning work session opening the cabin for the season and then a short fishing session and then we met back at the cottage for lunch. All the guys who were regulars on the trip kept refering to walleyes as "yellows", a term I hadn't heard before. Back out to fish for the afternoon - took us a while to find fish but eventually we got on them and around sunset I hooked my 1st and reeled him in. In the states and in Lake Erie these fish have a kind of silvery white color in the background this fish I had in my hand with the light of the late afternoon sun shining on him looked like liquid gold - gorgeous! The lake we fished is a Canadian shield lake, gouged out by the glaciers centuries ago and surrounded by dense maple forest. The water has a high concentration of tannic acid that makes the fish take on that gold color. Its a mental picture I'll always remember. That trip in particular was memorable. At that time that lake was well into the wilderness, subsequent years the 4 lane highway got a little closer every year with a little more development and encroachment every year. That trip I sat on the dock at night and listened to wolves howling in the distance - a sound I'd never heard before.

I have a lot of favorite memories, but the one I'm thinking of now is just me and the lake; I used to drive up to my grandparents' cabin at the lake all by myself and just think and write and enjoy the quiet. Nobody could quite figure out why I wanted to go up there alone, but it was probably the closest to peace I've ever felt. Now if only I could share it with someone I love.....

A few years ago I was pushing carts at this H-E-B I worked at (a local grocery store in Texas). I noticed that there weren't any cars on the highway or people in the parking lot. I started feeling eerily alone when suddenly this tumbleweed came tumbling by. I was like, "woah." It tumbled around for a little bit and then blew inbetween a row of cars and out of sight.
When it blew away all these people came out of the store and popped out of their cars and there were cars driving by on the highway again. It was like the cliche tumbleweed was controlling the universe.

Stories my father used to tell about his childhood.
I was the youngest of 5 kids & was "Daddy's Little Girl" & spoiled rotten...for 8 years anyway & then my little brother came along & screwed up everything. :o)
Seriously I was STILL Daddy's Little Girl" until his death & my daughter was "Papa's Little Cathy". :o)
My father passed away in 1989 @ 57 years old but I cherish those memories he told me so many, many years ago. :o)
He told his grandchildren the same stories & we all still share them at reunions.
No amount of money could be more comforting than those memories...
Not even Oprah's! :o)

When he invited me to have pizza with him..Actually the pizza was horrible since I hate cheese but... I didn't feel that bad about it anyway..!! Then we went shopping together, he bought me chocolate... Then we took some photos together This was almost the first time for me to touch his shoulders... We were both so shy though we are grown ups enough to hide this feeling...!!!
He drove me home and called me later when he went home...
We can't forget that day.. 12/28/2006 the day when I went out with my first love..!!
