I spent many a nights studying period regulation and scales due to a problem my girlfriend had. Turns out that it is normal for young women to have times of irregularity. Including no period, or steady for weeks at a time. But it is always best to see a doctor to be sure.

Twice within what time frame? Not everyone is on a 28 day cycle. Could be stress, could be a change in diet etc. If the test came out negative try not to stress it and it should come soon. If you're really worried, check with your doctor.

Although it's not normal to have your menstrual period twice in a month or to be late it is common in some conditions. For instance stress can cause it to be late. And if you have endometriosis, you can get menstrual periods that are very odd, heavy, and very painfull. You mention that you took a pregnancy test and that it came back negative. You might want to take another one is about a week. Are you trying to get pregnant? Are you prepared if you do get pregnant? If not, please consider birth control. Plus taking birth control pills, patches or injections will regulate you periods.

I would see a gynecologist. It could be nothing or it could be an indication of a larger problem. Either way it won't hurt to get checked out.
