Why is it still wrong to some even though humans have been around for some 200,000+ years?

As long as you have people being taught that homosexuality is bad, then people will continue to be against it. It's kinda like racism: as long as we have people keeping the cycle going, then it will always exist!

It hasn't always been taboo. The Greeks and Romans were very into the idea of homosexuality, to the point of claiming that the love of two men was the highest form of love. And they weren't talking platonicly, either.

My guess is that the taboos are related to procreation. One way to make sure that a population grows is to put a heavy burden on everyone to get married and have kids. Any prohibitions regarding sexuality have to be _very_ strong in order to work, which is why we still have taboos about women having multiple partners, for instance. Possibly that was just the way that the ancient Hebrews worked out to get as many kids as possible, and since we picked up a lot of their stuff through Christianity and the Holy Roman Empire, here we are.

I think another reason it's still around is because people are still uncomfortable with playing with gender roles. It's a bit easier for women to act "manly" than the reverse, but, even now, it's difficult, and homosexuality would seem to require someone playing an "unnatural" role.

So agree with you.
Social conditioning is at least as strong as what our parents tell us.
Society changes way too slowly...
at least 20 years behind the people who put forward a new movement.
I think that back in the day, there were groups who realized that homosexuality meant that the number of children born to them was less than it could be. Now, if you're a group that's been marginalized but wants to stay strong rather than blend in and be forgotten, you want as many memebrs and soldiers as you can get. So you put a hoo-doo on the notion of homosexuality, say it came from god, and force people into heterosexual marriages because "That is what is done". There are too many of most of our modern groups for this earth anyway, so now we are slacking off of that. But nobody wants to confront the reasons for the taboo, so nobody stakes these claims. Who wants to admit that their own religion was wrong for so long?
So people leave religions, and people do what they need to do.
And if there's ever a worl war, and a marginalized group that wants to stay strong, you will see another shift against it. I guess. I'll probably be gone by then, so we'll never know if my predictions are right...
You get the idea...

It is all in the way a person is raised. If you are raised to stereotype and to judge, than being gay may be unacceptable, unfortunately. Also, I think the newer generations are more open to homosexuality and many other socially "taboo" issues. Probably in 10-20 years, it will be an acceptable thing in society. I was raise dnot to judge people on their identity, race, sexual preference etc...but, by they way they carry themselves and handle business. And now as a grown woman today, I think that way is just common sense, and it's hard to accept the fact that people are so judgmental and full of hatred.....especially when thay call themselves christians, or whatever.

I agree... but I also wonder WHY those who ARE homosexual must advertise it.. Good gawd what I do is no ones business and I would think they would feel the same but I guess not... they must throw it in every ones face and announce it. Just not sure why... then complain when someone has a problem with it.

I say do what you want and leave me the hell out of it and I will do the same !!

Simple simple !!

Murder, rape, robbery has been around that long too does that make it right.Slavery was around for most of humanity, is that ok. The fact of the matter is male reproduce with females and we are genetically made that way. So even if you don't believe in the bible you still have to face that fact. Whenever homos can reproduce on their own, then it wont be taboo. I'm ok with fags to a certain point but it does say in the bible its wrong and they cant have babies so something (some people) are forgetting those facts.

It is an unfortunate mistake of genetics or environment when one sex doesn't feel what they should to feel. Sexuality is complex and it doesn't always work out the same in everyone. It is taboo probably since it will not propagate a society.

Because the juwish-christian-muslin civilitation had a deep print over a big part of the humanity.

If we take the New York 1968 protest as the begining of gay emancipation that's only less than 50 years agaist almost 2000 years of homophobia.

for some people it is religous reasons, with some it is a fear of those who are different and in yet others it is a cultural taboo.

Bear in mind, just becasue something has been around that long doesn't necessarily make it right .. or wrong for that matter either.
