Yes you can use a Palm PDA as a universal remote, just make sure it has a working infrared port and you have the right kind of software for it.
NoviRemote is the one I've heard of before, but I'm sure there are at least a dozen other pieces of software out there that do the same thing.

well simply put no. not as of yet but the way things are going with

technology, its only a matter of time. but there probably are some

devices out there that come close(like those watch/remotes and

stuff). plus its almost impossible and totally impractical to use a

pda as a PC because the memory level on a pda is just a fraction

of a PCs. plus you shouldn't need all that because some pda's

nowadays can do whatever a PC can. and regular universal

remotes are real cheap.

You can use your PDA as an universal remote control as long as your PDA has an infrared port (available on most PDAs) and you buy a software for this application.
There's no reason for using PDA as a PC, as long as technical performances of a tiny PDA are much lower than a desktop PC peformance. You can transfer data that you need to manage from PDA (through cable, bluetooth or infrared) on your PC (and vice-versa).
