Yep, especially if someone just got a raise because of a raise in minimum wages.

paying an employee is the same regardless of pay, unless youve got a special employer.
the way business works, is the boss doesnt owe you for doing your job. you sold your irreplacable time for x amount of dollars. minimum wage is a rough one, its like a bandaid for a cut that heals in a yr. the bandaid falls off, and then the wound is open. min. wage is usually where the poo stops flowing downhill. this is the last call for the good economy. since there is more money being spent in good times, prices rise. and hey if you made money, wouldnt you wanna hold it?
so entry level employees who are replaced easier than a role of toilet paper dont have a chance of getting the trickle down, since they're job can be done by another new person making entry pay. the govt steps in and raises min. wage. well darn, i earned my raise, and now somebody got their's legislated. so by working hard and doing a good job, i broke even because i didnt gain anything from my raise. then the cycle repeats. interest rates, and energy rise and then the whole thing starts over. prices for goods and services reclimb, and the poo starts the journey again.
we trade dollars in this world. the only exceptions are the lucky, very intelligent, or just plain ruthless. an employer owes you nothing for doing your job. when your tired and old, your out and the young is in, (extreme nightmare).
however, i brought home $350-450 (piece rate of .45 per 100 units and roughly 2000 units per hour on a lift)at 19 yrs of age. min. wage was $3.35. now at 36 i struggle to earn the same and my experience is worth a heck of alot more.i make $10 hr but 40 hr week, min wage here is like $7 an hr and broken down to scale,i realized im obsolete unless i worked darned hard, and thats just because i appreciate having a little hope. most employers cant afford to pay you what you are worth.
now with modernization, it takes less manpower and less experience to do more in general labor jobs.

yes, it's against the law, there is a limit for lowest wages in every state so an employer can't abuse their power by paying their staff lower wage than the limit that was set in the law

Yes. Minimum wage was started to combat the sweat shops. If it weren't for minimum wage, seat shops would still be everywhere.
