If you're planning on staying (doing a stretch, or doing time), you'll need to learn to spell it correctly. It's gaol in Australia.

From what I've read & seen on the telly, it's not nice. Feeding times are like hospital feeding times, i.e. all 3 meals occur over about an 11 hour period, and then you've got a long stretch with 0 to eat.

Depending upon where you are, you'd be cold in winter &/or hot in summer. If someone has decided to aircondition the gaol (at least one in northern Aust is aircond), then you are not allowed to smoke while you are in the building: and you may be locked in for many hours at a time.

Judging by your nickname, you are female. I don't know to what extent female prisoners gang up on each other: but I wouldn't want to find out, either.

So, if you're planning on committing a crime in Australia, I'd really advise against it. And don't think that being foreign will keep you out of gaol, even if you are American.

An odd question! Are you expecting to take up residence at any time soon.?
Well most of the gaols are better than the Hilton. Large screen plasma TV's. Comfortable lounge chairs, 4 unit housing in groups of 10. Nice art hangings on the wall, separate kitechen and stocked frifge. Rostered cooking in each unit. Piped music when TV is off.
Plenaty of recreational facilities, tennis, swimming pool, gym etc
Well fitted laundry facilities.

If you think this is all fantasy then you have never visited the Womens prison in Adelaide.

We accept either form of spelling, actually.
I have never been in jail, and don't plan on going, but I would assume it's like jail anywhere. Depends if you're in maximum security I would guess. What an odd question. Do you plan on being a drug mule, and want to know the consequences just in case?

Same as the jail of where you are from. Jail is jail, people go to jail because of the consequences of their actions against the norm or law

Check your spell check, Spell Check he he, Most Aussies spell it 'Jail' and I am sure it is not nice.. As in most countries, I am sure you would be made relatively uncomfortable!
