default opens 72dpi, I want it to open with the resoulation of the picture. How can I over ride the default

Hi

Go to Edit menu>Preferences>general

A window opens where you can select all the configuration parameter you need. For your needs select units and rulers from top scroll window and the once in units and rulers>select new documents preset resolutions>select display resolution and change from 72 to other. Save and Exit. If asked about saving new values say OK.

not sure about photoshop 7, but I'll tell you how to do it in CS2. I think it should be a similar method.

you go to Image > Image Size. There you can see resolution setting where you can type any resolution you want. That's what I understood from your question.

have try to open it trough the bridge? sometimes the resolutions on your doc. will affect also the resolution of you image. what is the resolution of your pic. when taken, may be you took the pic. at a 72dpi resolution. check your cameras resolution!

go to edit - color settings - change ur setting/ or preset manger to change ur settinh/ or preference to change ur setting
