I'm looking into Masters Programs. I'm trying to figure out the difference in the degrees and how these courses of study would impact my employment opportunities.

The name of the program makes no difference. International Studies, International Relations, and International Affairs are all the same thing.

The reputation of the faculty and the program makes all the difference, however.

Research the ranking of all programs (NOT the universities as a whole, but those specific departments), and apply to the best schools to which you think you can reasonably gain admission. Make sure there are faculty with international reputations in your specific area.

After you have received offers, weigh each program by reputation, and by amount of support you are offered (fellowships, assistantships, etc.), and make your decision on that basis.

Best wishes to you.
