what type of brush to be used and detail in strokes

The smaller brushes with a tip / point do the best for fine lines and precision. I favor the angled / slated brush that also a little edge to it. Fan brushes work fantastic on trees, bushes, mountains, snow, rain and grass. If your not sure what exactly your tastes in brushes yet, I suggest going to walmart, and picking up the large variety pack (the least expessive / most brushes) and start there. That's what I did, the when I found what I wanted / liked ti use, I went to Michael's and bought the nicer brushes. Happy Painting!

If it's free style it wouldn't matter. That's what freestyle is all about. Using whatever to get the look you want. There are no rules.
