You can care if you want to. Or you can not care, if you prefer.
Personally, I do hold sportsmanship and fair play to be sacred, and in that I'm alone, so Bonds should not be given credit for any records and no hall of fame and ...

I guess we should only care if we value honesty and the integrity of competition.
If on the other hand you don't care if people lie to you or cheat you then you probably shouldn't care if Barry Bonds committed a felony and used illegal performance enhancing drugs.
Its a specious argument that others are doing it so you have to do it to compete. Instead we should be creating a level playing field with aggressive testing and penalties including jail time for those caught using those illegal drugs.
Remember, if you were caught with steroids or amphetamines you would do jail time.

I only care because he is mentioned with some classy all time greats that did not have the "advantages" that he has had. I have no idea what his numbers would have been w/o drugs, but as a life time MLB fan, yeah, I do care. He really gives baseball a bad image w/ his controversy, his selfishness, and his attitude. With his talent, he could have been a great representative of baseball, but he chose to go the other way

He took steroids and in one sense he cheated his peers which were doing things the natural way, but his peers don't seem to care because their either doing it themselves or have the opportunity to do it. So why should I care? He's a jock and he just trying to be the best jock possible, what's wrong with that? History will remember him for what he was. A great ballplayer, the best of his era, but a steroid user and he will never be able to escape that and when people talk about his records that will always be mentioned. So he acheivements wills be tainted in many people eyes, plus his record will be broken eventually anyways.

No. It's always something - coffee, booze, pills, etc. What a player takes is his business. Mankind is rapidly heading toward a police state; soon we'll be testing the players every day, before each game, on TV. Too much caffeine in your blood? It's off to prison with you! It's becoming insane. No, it doesn't interest me what they take - I couldn't care less. Anyway, the whole human race is performance enhanced. Viagra? Dietary supplements? Stem cells? What's next? Who's next?

those people who like to compare the Hank Aaron's against Barry Bonds think it matters. If he used drugs, then his accomplishments are tainted.

Barry Bonds is pathetic. The only thing we should care about is when he goes away!

it depends on what you believe. some people believe that steroids and what not shouldnt be tolerated and is cheating but others believe that since other players are doing it, it is necessary for competition. there isnt really an answer to your question
