I want to know what everyone thinks about the depo shot?

I took Depo for 2 injections. The first injection caused me to bleed for 6 mths straight. The second injection caused me not to have a period for 6 mths. Then I didnt go back & I started bleeding again and bled for another 3 mths. My hair starting falling out, I gained weight & had some serious mood swings.

I've been on for over 16 years now, and never had a problem with it, and I never had a period either since day one when I first started taking it, which I absolutely love it! The Depo shot was, and still is my solution to Endometriosis.
All oral contraceptives cause weight gain, and the Depo has the lower rate.

I do not like the idea of a shot that takes all of your natural body functions and basically shuts them off. I just had a medical class that advises against it because a chemical in the shot makes your bones weaker. Most people who are on the shot for a period of time are advised to have a bone density test. Not only that it is for some people harder to concieve later on.

I was on the DEPO shot for 6 years. I haven't had a period since, I got off of it last year because is was eating my hip. I haven't had a period since then and i am now on the pill.

Depo Provera induces depression.

it makes you gain alot of weight. everyone i knew on it gained at least 10 lbs. Plus a friend of mine was only on it for 2 years and after getting off it took her 4 years to get pregnant.
