because if they were given due cause, what would probably come out is that the reasons for holding the gitmo prisoners are not strong enough in a court of law, but there are still reasons why the powers that be still want them detained

Guantanamo or 'Gitmo' is a prison where the U.S. under the direction of Bush and Rumsfield decided to violate ALL U.S. and International lws, in order to make a certian impression on the American public.

This impression is that they are actually defending America. What the really have done, is to round up an unlikely group of men, of whom only a tiny percentage can be indicted with war crimes.

Consequently, the U.S. got itself into a ridiculous and tragically immoral situation, where it has detained mostly innocent men for over 5 years, and now no country wants to take them back, so the U.S. doesn't know what to do with these victims of U.S. torture.

This has been one of the BIGGEST public relations blunders for Bush, exceeded only by the illegal invasvion and occupation of Iraq, itself.

The U.S. Supreme Court has TWICe rebuked Bush and ruled against the U.S. in favor of the detainees. The U.S. has been ordered to try the men in traditional miltiary courts according to the Geneva Convention Laws (created after WWI) or to close Gitmo. Bush has basically told the Supreme Court to go F****k themselves.

Eventually the detainees will all be released. It is doubted that any will ever be tried. After this, American law will permit these ment o find recourse against our country in both U.S. and European civil courts. It's likely that damages will be awarded to these men and their estates, and that gfor many generations, our children will be paying financially for this debacle.

Worse still, the growth of hatred and terrorism agaisnt the U.S. might actually NICREASe as a result of Gitmo. God help us.

Ok, main stream media not telling anyone. So, here is the answer. First there are less than 400 evil peeps left at Club Gitmo, some are awaiting trial, it took time to sort out the legal issues on how they are tried, who tries them, and what happens if not guilty. In, addition the United States has tried to repatriate the less violent peeps, but their home countries refuse to take them. We don't want them. And therein is the prob.

They did plenty.

If you don't like having them at Guantanamo would you consider keeping one or two of them in your home?
