My network setup: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b238/sr111/graphic.gif
Note that's the external ip on the wireless client. It will also have a local subnet ip like 192.168.1.* But my machine won't have a subnet ip because it's running directly from the switch.

So from that do you think I will be able to remote desktop into my machine from the internet? Do I have to make sure that no ports are being forwarded on my router? Is the switch smart enough to forward the packets to my machine?

Here's why I set it up like this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkzaYV_ZkA.p04N0TdP1g.Tsy6IX?qid=20070111205200AAlew84

It would really be better to run the modem directly to the router. That's why it's called a router... It can identify incoming calls and route them to the appropriate machine, particularly when utilizing two-way interfaces. With the router out of the loop, as you have it in the diagram, you're going to have a lot of difficulties with the remote desktop.
