I have an older MacMini without the Airport Extreme card. I would like to make it able to connect to the internet wirelessly. I tried to get some USB WiFi receptor, but up here in Norway these devices are not Mac-compatible.

So, If I buy and plug an WIFi access point device to my Mac, will I be able to connect wirelessly to the WiFi router we have at home?

No you can't, an access point isn't compatible that way.

What I'd recomendyou do is to call apple and ask them to recomend a usb wireless adapter.

I know that you tried a USB adapter and it didn't work with your mac, but I'd suggest that you try several different models from different manufacters because I know that mac has good device support and eventually one of them will work.

the access point would have to have a Ethernet cable connecting it to the router...
