I was on the shot a few years ago and I did gain about 5 pounds over a three month time period but I switched to the pill after the three months. I hated being on the shot.

Most people gain weight on the shot . I lost weight on it when i went on it after having my son . When I went on it after having my daughter I gained at first then lost again and couldn't gain weight both times to save my life . I don't know maybe I am one of hte few . I love the shot thouhg cause i can't remeber to take a pill to save my life and the IUD is just so dangerous . to many horror stories out there on them . You can also look the Depo Prevera shot up in your google search and it will pull up information on the shot and the side effects . Another reason why I like it is cause it dosen't have extra hormones like the other birth controls and It has not been recalled . the only complates I have heard on it is that you gain weight at most . I would try 2 shots then make up your mind .

I used depo for a year and a half and gained about 20 pounds. My doctor told me that it's because the hormones are distributed throughout the body. I switched to the Mireana IUD because the hormones are only focused on the uterus. I didn't gain anything with that. Just as a warning, my doctor said that fertility drops about 50% on the shot, so it's harder to get pregnant afterwards. I would not recommend it as a form of birth control though; the only benefits are that I didn't get my period with it and it's something to remember only 4 times a year.

YES.YES.YES. I have been on it since high school. Before I got on it, I weighed 135-like forever. I gained and gained. That is a side effect of the shot.70% of women using Depo Provera gain weight. Almost half of the women using Depo Provera gain more than 5 pounds after one year of use. Many women gain more than 10 pounds.

I gained 60 pounds over the course of a year while on the shot. I also couldn't get pregnant for 2 years after stopping the shot. Research this more before you decide to take the shot.

For some it does and for some it doesn't. Just like the pill. Although a lot of the women I spoke with about Depo said that after they were on it they couldn't get pregnant. I would choose this form very carefully.

i replaced into on Depo for type of four years. in the course of the first 2 years I received 60 pounds even regardless of the reality that i did not replace my ingesting and that i nonetheless went to the health center. the burden income replaced into the important reason i ultimately stop taking it. Plus i replaced into waiting for a toddler. i ended having sessions after some months and by no skill had yet another one the entire time i replaced into on it. It took 18 months for me to get pregnant after i ended taking it.
