Define what you mean be abnormal? In what ways?
This question is too broad.

Societal norms are the gauge for measuring whether individuals are "abnormal" so that is the factor of causing someone to become abnormal.

The simple definition of abnormal in Websters is : "deviating from the normal or average".

My answer to your first question therefore invalidates your second and third questions.

I agree with pichi--don't understand what you mean by abnormal. Like, to whom--what is abnormal--

Edit: To elysialaw--Sorry if Webster's is your source for "abnormal." It certainly doesn't take anything into consideration, times, cultures & so on. Additionally, if the implication is "average," remember that the "majority" isn't always right. This is full of holes, LOGICALLY.
