I think there is,i live in cumbria and we are having floods like i have never seen in all my 34 years. Many of my friends houses were flooded out 2 years ago in the big floods, and they have moved big mounds of soil to all the worst affected areas which are only just stopping the water from coming through at the moment.Fields i played in as a child are no longer there and i still have flowers in bud from last summer in my garden. Some birds that arent supposed to arrive back here until spring are in my garden and all of this does not look promising.I watch every day as i travel to work how the countryside is changing, there seems to be water everywhere and rivers are alot wider than they were.We are going to see great changes and i think even the experts dont know what to expect next.
I think the messages that were put across a decade ago have been ignored and now its all out of our hands.

i am no expert, but I say no! if you look back at all the weather records kept in Britain since 1900's you will see that there have been many other periods of freak weather where we have experienced unusual temperatures for time of year etc.

Besides - Long hot summers is not a bad thing?

You can see repeating weather patterns in most websites that chart historical measurements.

I imagine there is also the phenomenon of the fact that there are now more people throughtout the land, and we are more connected than ever before.

Consider the tornado's in the central U.S. Are we having more, or are there just more dwellings around to get hit? Or for that matter, more people around to witness them? Plus now you can see weather patterns all over via CNN, the Weather Channel or any number of websites.

I chalk it up to there being more of us, and we are more aware.

Freak and severe weather? Come on. It's winter. British winters are usually wet and windy.
This is normal. Dry winters, like last year, are not.

I think you could be right, but i think that about everything the experts and government people tell us.
In all fairness tho, if they told us everything that was really going on, the world could be in complete panic all the time, ie, Meteors circuling the earth and how close they blumming get to hitting us!!!!!!

I thinks so, global warming has something to do with it too though, when I was a child Spring,Summer, Autumn and Winter used to be consistent but its all over the place now, as the protective barrier is disappearing more and more

It's the el nino effect - or global warming. I'm in the UK - & we're getting hurricane-force winds & mild temperatures.
