One argued to me, saying if all these theories are false, it has no harm. but can you look what can this do if more people believe in such lie? look to the Arab world where i come from. many people believe in conspiracy theories, do arab world look better? simpel person can say no.. by the way, many arab countries are rich but yet backward full of conspiracy theories.

can you answer these harmful effects of your theories:
if you are conspiracy theorist of 9/11 that means
YOU :
1-Do not trust congress, because congress do not believe your theories.
2-Do not trust courts, because courts do not believe your theories,.
3-Do not trust police, same reason, they investigate it already.
4-Do not trust government.
5-Do not trust majority of people.
6-Do not trust the more undoubtable evidences. meaning, evidences are not by your (I thought, or I saw), it has to be supported by more material evid.
7-You do not believe majority of experts, who do not count on plain connections.

8-You support terrorists, how? because you providing them with fake materials they can use against your own country. many Islamists quote you out there. HELLO!!

9-Do you think if government done that, that will go easily and only few of you discover it?

10-More over, wait before you spread your ideas, if government wanna make police state, well, there would be more symptoms, and these symptoms can be stopped by the democratic institutions. so you attack the symptoms first and heal them, until you find or find not evidence against the government.

by the way, make sure, that nazis used conspiracy theories to launch their attacks against their opponents and against jews.

so you are on the anti-democracy side... and I m not in any way bush supporter.

911 'truth' movement is basically like all the anti-evolution stuff. It will probably be around forever and really don't get any where with their far out theories other than clinging onto every 911 facts.

I would say any person that can apply logic to an arguement will see easily that the vast majority of the conspiracy theories do not hold much weight. In fact, some of them are almost humorous they are so outlandish and far-fetched. Most of them are nothing more than the strategic piecing together of minor inconsistencies in the "official" story to verify thier idea. These theories would, in my opinion, have to answer and PROVE a number of things before I will consider them valid.

Example: the fact that thermite could have been used to take down the WTC does not prove it was used. Wait , I remember all the steel was quickly shipped away so the evidence would be destroyed, right?

Of course they are harmful. It makes people unaware of the danger they face and unready to face them when they occur. This in turn gives a tremendous advantage to the enemy, he doesn't even have to sneak up on his victim, he can walk right up to the victim an slay him. The problem with conspiracy theories is that they are made to look so plausible but they always depend on the audience's ignorance on some part of the subject. For example some people believe that cell phones do no work on planes, that ignorance gives credence to the conspiracy theorists when they say that the passengers could not have called friends or relatives while on the hi-jacked planes because cell phone don't work on planes.

People can believe what they like the information presented by the people who have an alternative theory of what happened is quite compelling. The people with these theories are not crackpots and looney toons, they are respected professors, engineers and scientists. As far as this weakening the country well we have a president that is doing that at a far faster rate then JFK, 9/11, and any other conspiracy theorists you can think of all together.

I am sorry but I have to agree with scorpiorn, Marco, catcrazyi, and thanks especially to neznice12...for being so extra thorough.

People should understand that dismissing these so called theories, without looking deeply into it yourself, in dangerous to all of us.

These people want to keep us in the dark. They want us to be complacent. They want us "dumbed down". All the better to forward their agendas without any resistance.

I bet a lot of people in Germany scoffed at conspiracy theorists, just before Nazi Germany became a police state! Think about it!!!!

Mercy for their souls, if they're lucky. They have harmed America with their trash conspiracies. Too many dorks believe what they say, and cannot acknowledge true facts. Too many idiots hate their own country because another idiot told them to, because they want to believe it was someone else's fault, rather than have to war with the guilty. I call these weak individuals, COWARDS. What say you?

I agree with you, conspiratism is dangerous. It makes citizens feel powerless which can only enpower the status quo. That can't be good for democracy.
