Who cares? Mercy is not that big of a deal, and if he didn't say that he would have lost by being knocked out, so he was just saving himself that humiliation. Unless you are in grade 7 and not going to hurt each other, it is wrong to fight in public, as the 'hatred' or whatever it is between you will just intensify.
It's not wrong, it's just immature.

It would be demeaning to the one who lost the fight. It would be forcing an insult on him that only adds to his defeat in the first place. Being kind to him might make a friend of him, where as insulting him further may only lead to an aggressor that may not quit until he is the victor. Even if he agreed to the fight, be kind, that is being manly. Take the idea of what America did after the last world war, we rebuilt our enemies. That did give us allies where we needed them, at least for a time. We could have made the same mistake that the world made after world war 1, and had bitter enemies after the war had ended. My point, do good to your opponent that lost. He could be a good ally later on.
There is a question that does need to be asked, what was the point of the fight to begin with. Are you not man enough to ignore someone Else's opinion that you might disagree with? Better is the man that walks away, and the opposing opinion can only be true if you agree with it. If not, then it is just the opinion of the other person, ignore it and walk away. If it might have been over a girl, what does she think? She may see you as a mean brute and want nothing else to do with you. A fight is justified to prevent harm to you, or someone close to you. Opinions, just walk away.

You know that's illegal, right?
I read an article on it and you can get arrested for it. Not only you, but the other boy as well, and anyone watching the fight. Even if they were not encouraging it, they can all get arrested.

My advice: Don't fight this guy. Not even in private. You will get in trouble for it one way or another.

He maybe agreed to fight, but, do you really want to embarrass him in front of a crowd of people. Just remember being a bully isnt a cool thing to be.

no matter what, even if he agrees to fight, if you win, you can go to jail, unless you can prove he hit you first with something other than his hand. Real men don't fight, they simply smarten up and walk away.

EDIT: Wait a minute! you are sure you are going to beat him! That makes you no more than a cowardly bully beating someone weaker than you . way to go, loser! I'm sure your parents will be SOOOOO proud of you! Do you beat up little girls too, and old women in wheel chairs?

Why do you want to do that? He must have done something that really pissed you off. There are definitely better options than using physical action. You should try talking to him if something he did really bothers you. But if you feel that you cannot control yourself, I suggest that you just let it go. Sometimes because we cannot control our anger, we will usually end up doing something that we will regret it later. Just remember that you have to bear the consequences of any actions. So cool down, think it through and see whether he is really worth it.
