Three years ago it's top speed is 120 km/h at 3,000rpm. Now, it only run up to 100 km/h at 6,000rpm, BEYOND the red zone.

Seems like the engine needs a sixth (6th) gear.

What could possibly be the problem?

Can I adjust the drivetrain by adjusting some screws or nuts?

Should I swap transmission?

Is it the CLUTCH?

If it's an auto trans your torque converter is not locking up, If it's a manual trans your clutch might be slipping but that much you should be able to smell it. Could your tach be out of wack? Some cars have the same tack with 4 cylinders as well as 8 cylinders and have a switch to change the voltage. If you are running an 8 cylinder with the tach set to 4 cylinders it would read double.

Have you changed the tire size? this can cause the speedometer to be inacurate. and is your rpm hand bouncing at any time? When you shift from 4th to 5th, is there any change in the sound? Have you modified anything? email me back

have you tried getting a simple tune up? spark plugs, change fluids, maybe have the idle checked.. its never a bad idea to have your tranny serviced as well...you dont need anew tranny if it shifts, what kinda car is it? have you tried a higher octane fuel?
