It was Pioneer 10, although Voyager I has now passed it in distance from the Earth. Pioneer 10 was launched on March 2, 1972.

Voyager, and it was the only one that we know of. It basically just left the solar system a couple years ago and was launched in 1977.

well, there are two space probes which have left the solar syatem ~ voyager and pioneer.
the one which you r describing is the pioneer
