s obvious they don't know what they are talkin about. Many are abuse psycologically and physically by prison guards and other prisoners. They are not eating buffet style and don't even get 3 meals on wkends. medical care is not even free, the family pays.
These people are going to return to society worst of than the left it. Prison teaches them that violence is a way of life. It needs to be a combination of rehabilitation and punishment. Remember not all prisoners are there for violent crimes, but they are placed together. No one complained abut Martha Stewarts's cell did they? And what about those who are in prison for crimes they didn't commit or poor representation.

I don't know where you get your facts from, but my husband is a C.O at a max security prison. I've visited the prison and those inmates have it very good. They get roughed up when they mouth off and defy authority. Guards can't just beat an inmate up without just cause, if they do, they can go to jail. There are cameras watching them and investigations. These inmates have DVD players, tvs, video games, a grocery store that has cheap prices, the food's not that bad. They have free medical, jobs, etc. They get an education as well. Many choose to live in prison rather than get out due to that. Violent criminals are NOT put in the same blocks as none violent. There are also camps that some inmates go to that are for pety crimes. It's not "rehabilitation and punishment" but they call it "rehabilitaion and corrections". Those who come out messed up, were messed up going in. You're right, some people do not belong in there. Not much you can do about it. It's not the guards or prison that put them in there, it was the people on the jury and the judge. Some do things to add time to their sentance because people are waiting for them to get out. OMG, they can't smoke anymore, they can't have sex, the can't tattoo, they can't brew hooch, they don't have AC. Poor babies. I'm not talking about drunk drivers, I'm talking about baby rapists, wife killers, cop killers, child killers/abusers. These people, to end up at my husbands prison, did horrible things, sometimes more than once. If it were up to me, they'd get a cell floor and a hole to pee in. One man in there raped a 4 week old baby, breaking her legs amongst other injuries. So, if you think having cable after doing that is cruel, you need to see inside the walls.

You are right most people have no idea ,freedom is worth more then any other reason so to say they have it good to not be free is what?guards do abuse them the food is junk there families do pay medical and put money on there books nothing is good about it they need help violence is there way of life and you can get killed in prison or raped for your food or any other reason one of the numerous groups/gangs . decides I'm with you on the combination .

You can't make everyone happy when it comes to punishing criminals. Some ppl don't want them to be executed b/c then they won't suffer and won't have to live with their crimes locked up, so at the basic level they have to be contained, and fed and given shelter otherwise they would die! And how would they pay for shelter?! The ones that are somewhat sane and not a imminent danger do work, like picking up trash and working in 'prison factories/warehouses' or whatever u call them.

Sometimes they're being sarcastic, and other time they're referring to ones that go to prison repeatedly but then only have food to complain about.

Oversimplification. Sanctimony. (Is that a word?) I am good, they are bad, yet I have to pay my bills and they don't have to, in fact, I pay FOR them. Criminals got what they deserved, and should not be coddled. Lots of people do not want to look any further.
Not many people say: "There but for the grace of God..." or "There but for fortune...". In fact, not many people truly believe that. And probably none of us can fully comprehend it.

Because they don't have to get up and go to work. they can just lay around all day and do nothing and get meals and medical and we are paying for it in more ways than one.
