Yes!

If they were born blind, they will have less visual dreams and more sounds, textures as they experience the world.

A woman I knew who'd had vision, then lost it as a young adult, did still dream visually, but she said her visual references were the same for when she could see. Meaning she saw in her dreams the world as it had existed, for the most part, before she went blind. Like to her, a computer as she described seeing it in a dream, wasn't like how I see a computer in my dreams. People in her dreams tended to wear clothing like she'd last seen people wearing.

Have a nice day!

Yes. Your question stems from the idea that your dreams are pictures. I am not the least bit blind but I have a disability such that I can't see pictures in my head the way everyone else can. All I see is my eyelids. People ask me how I dream and I tell them, I dream in concepts; like a book. A novel describes all sorts of things without pictures. So my dreams are like written stories. It still feels like something happened. Plus the feelings and sounds etc are all there too.

Yes, blind people do have dreams. However, those blind since birth or very early childhood have no visual imagery in their dreams. Instead, they experience a very high percentage of taste, smell, and touch sensations in their dreams.

The breakdown is as follows:

There are no visual images in the dreams of those born without any ability to experience visual imagery in waking life.

Individuals who become blind before the age of five seldom experience visual imagery in their dreams.

Those who become sightless between the ages of five and seven may or may not retain some visual imagery.

Most people who lost their vision after age seven continue to experience at least some visual imagery, although its frequency and clarity often fade with time.

I've asked my neighbor who is blind about this because I was very curious a few months ago about it. She dreams just how she lives. There's no color or anything of course. That's what I was so curious about was the imagery. She lost her vision at 6 yrs old, so some do have that imagery and some don't.

Yes, blind people do dream. What they see in their dreams depends on how much they could ever see. If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have auditory dreams. If someone such as I, has had a measure of sight, then that person dreams with that measure of sight. I still dream as though I can see, colors included. For people I've met since, their faces are just blurs or how I imagine they look.they will just try to imagine

When you dream, you dream of all the stuff you see, so I guess blind people won't be able to dream seeing stuff. Perhaps they dream of hearing, feeling and smelling stuff instead? That three senses are mostly absent in normal dreams, but are impt senses to blind people.

Yes, why wouldn't they. You don't need your eyes to dream. It's all chemical reactions really happening in your body that stimulate dreams, hormones, etc. It's like saying a blind person couldn't reproduce, a blind person couldn't eat, or drink, etc.

Of course being blind doesn't mean you can't dream it just means you can't see . It's like people in coma's they still dream . I like dreaming it's another world in it's self.

Question - Do blind people dream? If so, what do they "see" in
their dreams?
----------------------------------------
The short answer is Yes. But it is more complicated. Do a search on the
search words "blind people dreams" and you will find many "hits" that will
answer your question in detail -- and a lot more info on "dreams" in
general. My preferred search engine is www.google.com but that is only a
personal preference.
