How do I get special font for Yahoo Messanger? As in, starting red, and fading to black?

My friend did it, and he won't tell me how. So I was wondering how to do it. I tried changing the font color, but its a solid color. So, how do I do it?

click on the color palette icon in the messenger chat box.....select COLOR EFFECTS. There you can make all sorts of color effects like the one you are looking for
