I love Yao Ming. Yao is a great person, quiet, polite and is a very hard worker. Can you believe he refused to dunk on people before because he said it was disrespectful? His PPG have continued to increase since his rookie year. His strength and conditioning have improved as well. His FG% is .522, FT% is excellent, especially for centers (.867), and has increased in blocks and assists. He has great range for a center and is working on increasing his range (this season, he made a fallaway jumper that was nearly a 3--his foot was on the line). He knows when to carry his team, and he plays hard every single day. He is definitely the best center in the league today.

Yes, he's the first Chinese basketball player. And he's one of the tallest players in the NBA. He represents his country, and that's something to applaud. He carries his country's reputation in the NBA on his shoulders, and he's holding out very well. All that pressure--being the only one representing a whole country. And he didn't know English very well when he first got here. You have to give Yao Ming credit. Not many people could so what he has done under so much pressure.

Yao Ming has had a string of tough luck the past few years but he was posting career numbers before his latest injury.
He seems like a great guy, very humble, dedicated, and unselfish. He's continued to improve and he's one of few centers who passes and shoots free throws well.
Just needs to bulk up some more to prevent further figures.
I'm proud to call him my fellow countryman because he takes the national team seriously (refusing to shave until they won in the Olympics/FIBA). He's a global icon and has opened the market in China and given the kids there hope.
Can't say this about too many NBA players

Yes i do like yao ming
because he came from a place where basketball was not a very known sport until he made it known in china
he was expected to make houston a playoffs team straightaway and even be a more dominant force than shaq
he failed again and again and that is why he has succeeded
i take my hat off to him

He plays for Houston and he seems to have good sportsmanship even though he has been a target for some players in the past.

Humble and hardworking two qualities that you don't find in a lot of the players and oh yes dedication should be included here too.
