When my husband and I decided to try for a baby, I counted 14 days from the first day of my last period and used that as a guide. We decided on a Friday and started to try on the Saturday - that was my supposed most fertile day. That month I fell pregnant. My daughter is now 2 years old, and since she was born I have always marked the first day of my period in my diary for future reference.
