Sometimes my Dad sang "Old Man River".... I don't remember the lyrics, really, but we loved his deep basso voice. Something like, "You just keep rollin, you just keep rollin along". I was a convent boarder for a while and they used to play the LP from "The Sound of Music" at night. I loved that movie and found the songs on the LP very relaxing and good dream material (I projected myself into the role of the older girl who was "sixteen going on seventeen, innocent as a rose").

I sing my granddaughter songs that I make up with her name all through them, usually with lyrics like, "little Alyza is going to sleep now, Alyza can't keep her little eyes open anymore" etc.

Funniest thing, my mom had taken French in school and she used to sing me the French National Anthem. That was my lullaby. It's true and yes, funny but, I could sing it by the time I was two.

" Hush little baby don't say a word. Momma's gonna buy you a mocking bird and if that mocking bird won't sing momma's gonna buy you a diamond ring and if that diamond ring turns to brass momma's gonna buy you a looking glass and if that looking glass gets broke momma's gonna buy you a billy goat and if that billy gaot won't pull momma's gonna get you a cart and bull and if that cart and bull breaks down you'll still be the cutest little baby in town." My mom sang this song to my every night until I was about 4.

My grandmother and mom used to sing me a song in spanish. It was called "Misifu" I could tell you the lyrics but its kinda weird. The song is sung from a kitty's point of view and she's in love and is singing to her boyfriend kitty. Its wierd, I know, but when you're little you like everything I guess...

By the way "misifu" is the name of her boyfriend who i later in life found out it the puss in boots. whatever!

I sang this music to my first daughter, it took purely approximately 10 years to have her, it replaced into from the Carpenters called " on the brink of You" and whilst my daughter had her first born there replaced into yet another wood worker music that she sang to her son " You on my own" the two tear jerkers for a love for a individual, this concern replaced right into a sprint one. Disturbingly, my mom sang Joni Mitchell's "The Circle Game."

Yesterday, a child came out to wander
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful, when the sky was full of thunder
and tearful at the falling of a star

and the season's they go round and round
and the painted ponies go up and down
we're captive on the carousel of time
we can't return, we can only look
behind from where we came
and go round and round and round in the circle game

then the child moved ten times round the seasons
skated over ten clear frozen streams
words like "when you're older" must appease him
and promises of "someday" make up his dreams

and the seasons, they go round and round
and the painted ponies go up and down
we're captive on the carousel of time
we can't return, we can only look
behind from where we came
and go round and round and round in the circle game

sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
and they tell him, "take your time, it won't be long now
'til you drag your feet to slow the circles down"

and the seasons, they go round and round
and the painted ponies go up and down
we're captive on the carousel of time
we can't return, we can only look
behind from where we came
and go round and round and round in the circle game

so the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
though his dreams have lost some gandeur coming true
there'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams, and plenty
before the last revolving year is through

and the seasons, they go round and round
and the painted ponies go up and down
we're captive on the carousel of time
we can't return we can only look
behind from where we came
and go round and round and round in the circle game

and go round and round and round in the circle game
