My mom says they are normal however I am taking him in the morning to the doctors to have a look. just wondered if my mom is right. I breastfeed for the first four weeks and I supplemented with formula since birth but for the past 2 weeks he has had formula only. I use only sunlight sensitive on his and my clothes. and I bath him in johnsons baby shampoo and body washes. Thanks for all your responses.

It's normal, it's called baby acne, you should look it up and read about it, I did with my son. I suggest to not wash his face with any soap or baby wipe. Just warm water and a washcloth. And do not put lotion on his face, all these things will make it worse. I suggest to maybe not waste your time at the dr's they will just tell you it's normal and there's nothing you can do about it except all the things I told you....Hope this helps...

I do believe your mom is right. I am the mother of 3 kids....13, 12 and 4. This is completely normal and will pass. You really don't need to treat it at all. It will go away on its own. If it is not baby "acne" ( not really acne..just a term) then it may be prickly heat...which is another term for a heat like rash. That too will go away on its own. Just be sure to bathe him appropriately and not worry about it. I would not put him in the sunlight so much right away...it can be very damaging and his little skin may become very sensitive. Try to keep his washes as simple as possible....the marketing for these products are designed for us as parents....keep the soap mild..the less colors and the less perfumes...the better it will be for your sweet little baby.
Congratulations!!!! Your concern is natural...and believe me...your mom will be right most of the time!!

Infant acne is completely normal. All it is is a sign that the last of your hormones are leaving his body. My daughter got this around six weeks, too and it will go away eventually. You can also expect to see tiny white dots on his face called "milia". He may have been born with this, but it will probably not go away after the infant acne is gone. No cause for alarm, 40% of babies are born with this. My daughter had these barely-noticable white spots up until she was about 5months old. Don't worry about the acne or the milia if he has it, it will all go away as time progresses.

although it may look kind of gross sometimes, baby acne is perfectly normal, and happens to plenty of infants. there isnt much you can do about it, other that leave it alone. washing with any kind of soap wont help it. best thing is to just keep your baby clean and don't touch it! it will go away on it's own. if it gets worse or spreads, let your pediatrician know just in case.

anytime you're worried it's always a good idea to check with your dr. without personally seeing what you are describing i would say it's just baby pimples. it's perfectly normal at his age. my daughter had them from 4 weeks until she was 3 months. on and off and mostly on her face but also on her upper chest and bottom. the oil glands are developing and that's what is causing this. but you should check with your dr. definatly.

I would also say it is infant acne. My son had the same thing at same age. I would go ahead with the doctor appointment though, even if it is nothing serious it will at least ease you mind.
