Absolutely! We can fault, like any other country, but our freedoms hold true, like the red, white and blue.

First I want to thank my grandparents for moving here from Europe, if not I would be over there in either Italy or England. So the USA is all I've ever known.

Ever since I can remember I was proud to be an American. When I grew up we were taught in school and at home to respect the flag, national anthem, our president and all the people in government. We were taught to use the great gift of voting. When we do this we are taking part in our government not being told what to do and how to do it.

We are so free to not have to worry about being followed when we walk down the street by some police or having to be afraid who we talk to on the street. We can use our freedom of worship and no one can enforce us to attend a certain church, temple or mosque. If we don't want to attend either one we can remain at home and not enjoy this right.

It's an amazing country with people here from every part of the globe. There must be something here that bring people from everywhere. They don't try and leave they try to come here. I think that says something about the United States. We just need to get more people to participate in voting so we have the best people in charge who will look out for all of us and our needs. They work for us not the other way around.

So to answer your question...A BIG YES I'M VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!

I don't know if I'd use to word proud (like someone said above it sounds too nationalistic to me), but, yes, I am happy to be an American. Most of my family has been here since the pilgrims landed in Plymouth (haha My grandma is all proud of that fact). The rest came shortly after. :-) Lots of ancestors have fought in every war this country has been in. One was even one of three of George Washington's personal bodyguards who was at his side through the revolution.

We definitely enjoy more freedoms than, say, North Korea - That's for sure!

I have to admit I was a lot more "Rah Rah America" "yeah, US" when I was growing up an Army Brat.

I just think our government needs to work on working with other nations rather ran steamrolling over them with our power. We'd seem less arrogant.

Yes I am, but I am so sick of how patriotism and being "proud to be an American" have become not heartfelt statements, but something trendy to say.

It has become more of people simply being afraid to say they are NOT proud.

I have heard people say "America, love it or leave it," but that is the LEAST patriotic thing to say. America is not about grinning and bearing it. I think America should set the example for all nations with true freedom.

Yes, I am and I will love my people and this land until the day I die. I may not agree with the wars that our government started and 5 years later still can not do anything in Iraq. In my opinion we need our troops out before the government wants to start with Iran and Syria. Thank you so much for asking this question and Happy New You 2007.

I am proud to be an American. Where at least I know I'm free. But freedom isn't free. And I'm not always proud of Americans.

Yes I am proud to be an American, but I would like to point something out.

I am a liberal and so I love America as an adult would love a parent. I see its faults and shortcomings as well as its accomplishments and goodness.

A conservative loves America blindly like a naive child.

Yes, I am very proud to be a member of one of the OLDEST and most successful Countries/Governments on this planet. Nearly every single person across this World owes us at least a little for the improvements our defiant presence has done for them!

I must add however, that I am not a gullible, foolish, sucker of a "too much money, not enough brains " idiot!---AND I SURE DO WISH OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES WOULD STOP MAKING ME LOOK LIKE ONE!!!!!

Yes, but I fear that our love of material things like pretty cars or our so called "Vital Interests" are distorting our sense of humanity, along with our paranoia that people are out to get us for no reason. Yeah sure!
We are fooling ourselves into thinking that their is no price that our children will have to pay for our polluted ethics and corrupt sense of right and wrong. We are getting close to losing our balance in terms of being a Nation among Nations.
If we don't start being a significantly more giving and caring people, we will fool ourselves in actually believing that God loves us best and will always take care of us. Remember, we have killed well over a million people in Vietnam and Iraq. There is a price to pay for that record if we don't come to our senses.
We will come tumbling down at that point, big guns and all.

Absolutely, this is a country that gives every one rights. IF we were in many fcountries, many people on here would be dead - what they say would be considered treason.

Yahoo! Answers among other things would be censored.

America has many freedoms that a lot of countries do not have.

We should all be proud.
