besides getting it on with an intern and lying about it (which is wrong and should never have happened), what exactly is it that makes republicans feel that clinton did a poor job?

i've seen many posts saying that Bush is "cleaning up the mess" that Clinton left. but, when he was in office, our standing was good within the world, jobs were up, and we had the biggest budget surplus in history.

what was it that he did wrong? republicans, serious answers please, i'm asking an honest question, and i'm young and only got into politics right after George W was elected.

Bush inherited a recession. Our military was underfunded & demoralized. Our enemies thought they could do any thing they wanted without fear of reprisal.

The poll of 1,021 adult Americans was conducted May 5-7 by Opinion Research Corp. for CNN. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Respondents favored Clinton by greater than 2-to-1 margins when asked who did a better job at handling the economy (63 percent Clinton, 26 percent Bush) and solving the problems of ordinary Americans (62 percent Clinton, 25 percent Bush).

On foreign affairs, the margin was 56 percent to 32 percent in Clinton's favor; on taxes, it was 51 percent to 35 percent for Clinton; and on handling natural disasters, it was 51 percent to 30 percent, also favoring Clinton.

Moreover, 59 percent said Bush has done more to divide the country, while only 27 percent said Clinton had.

When asked which man was more honest as president, poll respondents were more evenly divided, with the numbers -- 46 percent Clinton to 41 percent Bush -- falling within the poll's margin of error. The same was true for a question on handling national security: 46 percent said Clinton performed better; 42 percent picked Bush.

Reagan. He replaced right into a visionary. i imagine he had the strengths of Clinton and Bush without the obtrusive weaknesses. Bush is a visionary, yet lacks communication skills. Clinton had tremendous communication skills, yet replaced into nearsighted at the same time as it got here to direction for the country. Reagan replaced right into a best communicator and had the want and capacity to get issues finished.

I hate bush more then most (mainly because his silly little war caused me to sacrifice a year of my life in the most god-forsaken country ever known to man, while he sat back and drank egg-nog with his family on christmas in the the white house) but you would have to be blind not to see what Clinton did.

Clinton was a believer in duck tape and twine politics. As long as he was in office he could hold it together. He could cover up the decite that corporate America built upon. He Negotiated a ceasefire with Isreal and palestine behind closed doors giving us a false sense of stability. Finally he destracted us from the fact that there was an entire race of people wanting nothing more then to see your head separated from your shoulders by having us worry about who was doing what where in the white house.

However, inspite of his lies and decete, he did what was best for the American people while he was in office. We had money and jobs, and no wars. Plus CLinton played a mean sax. Clinton was well meaning where as with bush... well....

with friends like him...

Republicans in Congress spent $110,000,000 trying to prove illegal activites. Result -- One person was"convicted" of a "felony" commited while working in the Clinton administration. The evil fellow took $12,000 in trips to sporting events, etc. OIC Smaltzsmear concluded that they had been no "quid pro quo", i.e. no public benefit given in exchange for any gift given him. Yet, the man could not afford to fight the charges, so he pled guilty.

If you look at the arguments most Republicans make, they attack Clinton personally. They cannot attack his policies because they worked, so they attck him.

I walked precincts for him. I supported him. I voted for him. I was REALLY pissed over the while Lewinsky thing. But no one can honestly pick apart his policies because they worked better for our country than anything Bush has done.

Clinton was doing such a great job that the only way they could attack him was personally.
