I have seen a flat in an appartment. The door is (not precisely though) in the south direction. I heard that Vaastu Shastra says door shouldnt be in South. Is this correct and reliable?

Is it a superstition? Like Karma? If you really believe it, then get the information you need, and be sure to follow your belief. If you don't you will always wonder if your life could have been better. Listen to your instincts and follow through.

Vastu shastra like astrology is not an exact science which can be mathematically proven like the law of gravitation or electromagnetism. However, unlike the modern day science, which cannot explain many things and just deny the existance of a phenomenon, to be a rational person, you can study this over a period of time and find for yourself.

However, if you ask my opinion, I would say, there is definitely some relationship between how you construct a house and how you live in it. But more need to be discovered.

should? you can believe what you want many different beliefs have this type of thing attached. Many North Americans believe you shouldn't sleep with your head to the south, some to the west, etc. I dont think God cares which direction you or things are facing because He is all around you.

I think it doesn't matter. One day we will all be dead, do you think putting a door on the south or north, west, or even on the roof is going to change that? It's only a matter of time. Don't waste it on trivial things.
