Most questions get replies like, "Do your own homework".
Why reply with that answer when it is clearly in the right category?

By labelling a category as Homework Help puts emphasis on not learning for oneself but I could place a question in the Science category and get lots of decent answers even though... thanks, you've just done my homework for me...

Would it be better to not have the Homework category at all? What do you think?

I think homework help is a great IDEA, but that was it. It is used way too often for people getting their homework done for them. I can't believe how many people just do the answers. I also think the people who just say, do your own homework should stop. If this category was used for it's original intention which was to aid in someone doing their and not having people do it for them then that would be awesome, but it isn't so it sucks.

While it's true that there are too many questions asked because the user is too lazy to look it up just a little bit more extensively, and it's true that those "Do your own homework" answers appear way too frequently, I still think the Homework Help section is a good thing. It creates the option, which is the biggest thing that matters. Maybe it just needs to be divided up into more specific categories to eliminate the spam answers and draw people actually interested in answering questions about the topic.

I think a Homework Help Category is fine as long as people don't just give you answers, but help you to learn how to do the work.

I am a teacher and I answer questions on this sight. However, I never just give an answer. I try to explain HOW to get the answer. If a student puts in more than one question, especially similar types of questions, then I will explain how to do the problems and then step the student through their first problem. I won't do their homework for them. Unfortunately, I think there are students who think they are getting one over on their teachers by having someone else on this site do their homework for them. Unfortunately, the student is slicing their own throat because they are not learning anything. Getting good homework grades will not help you to pass your tests. And, if your teacher is like me, tests count for a larger part of your grade than homework.

Used properly by both the student AND the responders it is a good site. Used improperly it is a detriment to the student in the long run.

I think it's a great category. Some adults don't understand how difficult homework can be nowadays ( i mean no offence to nobody) . Its not just the basic four mathematical equations now (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), you've got to also know what 2x+3=4x+5 is equal to.

Homework help is a great category, but it must be stressed that students not simply ask for answers to their homework questions, but to ask about the ideas behind them and how they would approach such a problem.

I think its a good category, I learn from it myself and it gives a breadth of insight and information that you don't get by limiting yourself to your own findings. It helps students to realise that there is more to learning than right or wrong answers. The daft answers are usually short and easy to ignore; they are an inevitable effect of open access and you have to learn to take the rough with the smooth when you are online.

I think this is a rally good category, but people should stop asking outright questions on the wot the answer is and should concentrate on how they got there.

I guess it is a good categagory and no worse that googling the same questions. Well done for trying to get information from others, but perhaps google might provide more serious responses.

I think it is a great category. It has already helped me with my son!

I think it's a good idea. Of course, some students don't seem to understand that having someone else complete your homework is more than "help" - it's fraud!
