Ill tell you this, I went last year for New years and on the 3rd I was walking down the strip to watch a show and I only wore a shirt no sweater and I was freezing my *** off. You should be cool with a hoodie. Just note if you plan on getting into any clubs wear nice clothes and get there early or else you wont get in. Also dont worry about the pickpocketers. Its a myth and they might be out there but they are not common, but watch your back. Good luck and have a drink for me!

Winter can be cold.
Pickpockets and soliciters are everywhere. So have the purse that you wear around your waist to keep your belongings with you, and use the personal safe at the hotel to keep most of your money and jewelry. Wear - fashionable jewelry only - not good jewelry - and don't say I didn't warn you.
Too cold in winter for flip flops. Long nice jeans - will take you everywhere, long sleeve shirts, and warm jacket because it does get windy.
You can do the yahoo search for Las Vegas weather forecast.

A thought to consider - if you want points, every casino has the "key card" to get your them. You establish a credit account.
They do a credit check on your, and they have your credit report.
Everyone knows what you owe, and every credit card you have, because when your name pops up for casino ID, they instantly have tons of information about you.
That is their "COMP" PROGRAM, and every casino has one.
If that is what you want, you will get just that.

No thanks, no comp program with my credit report advertised to anyone in any casino for me!

But if you want to have fun: Read on -
There are many deals at expedia.com and travelocity.com
lasvegas.com

There are casinos everywhere - so don't feel you have to lose all of your money at one location.
There are roller coasters on top of tall buildings.
There are white tigers on the first floor side area of the Mirage.
There are outside shows at Treasure Island.
Gambling:
There are many where you can lose $50 without even trying, then win $10, then win another $50.
It's easy to lose $100+ a day minimum, so if you're smart
you'll back away if you lose $20 - and try your luck another time, or another day.

Best location, and I stayed there January 2006, was the Mirage and it's next to Treasure Island, across from Venetian Grand canal, and down the street are Bellagio and the Eiffel tower.
You can walk everywhere, or take the bus when your feet get tired (very cheap).

Don't forget to lunch at the Eiffel tower - pricey but great, great food, and across from the fantastic Bellagio fountains that have themes - yes dancing fountains w/music when you're outside to hear.

Lunch also at the revolving restaurant -where you can see all of Vegas during the day - THE STRATOSPHER. The food was magnificent and you can see if you go at lunchtime - where the people of Las Vegas live and the mountains that surround it.

Las Vegas - I saw Jay Leno and he was non-stop for 1 & 1/2 hours of jokes, and we got the last 2 seats in the far section, and it was still somewhat close because the entertainment area was well done!

We went to see Mystere show - and the best is called "O" which means water in French. The stage actually opens for people to dive into, and then closes for people to walk on it.
So amazing.

At the end of 7 days, I was ready to come home. It's exciting, but not enough to say, wow someday I'd consider living there.

GOD bless us one and all, always.

I went to Vegas in December a couple of years ago and I was fine with jeans and a pullover sweatshirt during the day. Now at night, it was a little chillier so I needed something a little heavier in the evening.

As far as pickpockets, etc. you are always going to have those types of people in an environment like Vegas. Always be aware of your surroundings and keep your purse, wallet, whatever in front of you at all times. If you are playing a slot machine or at a game table, put your purse in your lap. I've been out to Vegas a couple of times and have never had a problem but you just need to take a few precautions so that you are not an easy target. Have fun!

Depends on how much walking your gonna do. At least a thick jacket. it is snowing today, rare, but that gives you a little clue. It not 107 any more. Days are usually 60-70s, nights drop into the 40s quickly, some times even 30s.

When people think of Las Vegas they think hot. Not true. Desert cities get extremely cold and can be miserable during the winter. Las Vegas, for reasons unbeknownst to me, is one of the windiest cities I've ever been to. Temperatures in winter are usually 30-60 degrees farenheit. Showers and snow are fairly common.

Well, it was supposed to snow there today or tomorrow - you might want a real jacket.

and real shoes

and long pants

go to www.weatherunderground.com and check (I just realized I don't know how soon you are going.)

The weather in desert areas can vary quite a bit - so dress in layers. Also, are you going to be outside or just stay indoors?

Finally, don't walk the strip late at night and you won't need to worry about pickpockets.

I stay right here. In Jan of only excellent year we did not get above 40 2 in the day time. evening were round 15. My horses & dogs water iced over each evening. Feb. we did not get a lot hotter. It receives very windy right here in the wintry climate. So bypass by using that temp or so. no longer to certain how chilly it receives there.... wish this allows.
